How does the installation process work?

We supply two different installation applications; Retrofit installations and new installations. Retrofit applications are installations where furnacedepot.ca removes the existing furnace, A/C or Hot Water Tank in the home and replaces it with the new unit as displayed on our site. New applications are installations where our service & installation professionals will supply and install the selected furnace, A/C or Hot Water tank in the home, including allowances for piping, venting and waterlines.

How do you know when to have your ducts cleaned?

Like many other home maintenance chores, you should have your ducts cleaned at least once per year. However, a change in air quality generally indicates that it may be time to have your ducts cleaned too. This can be measured by scent or by the density of the air. If you start to notice that your home is feeling “under the weather”, then you might want to get a service done on your vents.

If you feel like your air quality is suffering, the first thing you should do is check the furnace air filter. Most times, checking the filter first will show how your heating and cooling appliances are functioning properly. After changing the filter, you may notice a significant difference in your air quality.

If your filter is clean, but you still notice something is off, then the next step is to turn off your unit and check the vents. By lifting up the vent grates and using a flashlight, sometimes you can see the amount of debris in your vents. People with pets that live on or near construction and farms, and even by a body of water may have buildup in their ducts that is leading to poor air quality. If this is the case, it’s time to call the professionals.

What size of furnace do I need for my home?

There are many aspects to keep in mind when selecting the best-sized furnace for your home. While square footage and construction (insulation and windows) are the primary considerations, the amount of window exposure to the sun also affects potential heat loss.
